There exist whole galaxies of dimensions between the spaces of human perception. Substances in the Outer Dark have a material, but not of any composition that follows earthly laws. One of sorcerous intent can, with the proper skills, reach sidewise into the nighted gulfs and pull forth some of these weird substances, such as black ice. This material is cold, the cold from between the stars, a cold that burns. It can be used in the smelting process of star metal.
